People argue that it is wasteful to celebrate public events and festivals, and this amount of money should be allocated to other areas. Personally, I disagree with this view, and I believe that national celebrations are necessary because they could offer a host of economic and social benefits to communities.

There are several reasons why these festivals could boost the economy of a country. The first reason is that they could stimulate the growth of tourism and other related businesses. It often appears that such events attract many tourists, and they spend a substantial of money not only on admission fees, parking fees but also on hotels, restaurants, souvenir shops. The second reason is that well-organized celebrations could provide free marketing and advertising for local business. For example, when they go back home, visitors could talk their friends about fun experiences and beautiful scenery, and they even post comments or pictures on social networking websites such as Facebook or Twitter.

On the other hand, from the social perspective, national celebrations are also advantageous. Firstly, this is an effective way to preserve core cultural values of a nation and strengthen relationships. For example, Lunar New Year is an irreplaceable part of Vietnamese people when families gather together to recollected past events and honor ancestors. Secondly, festivals and events help foster a sense of pride within a community by celebrating things that make a city special and evoke good feelings. An excellent example is that Danang city is well-known for its International Firework Festival; this event not only helps enhance city’s reputation but also bring happiness and fulfillment to local residents.

In conclusion, I would argue that it is completely justifiable to hold national events and festivals because of advantages they bring to our country.
